Highest Quad / Dual Core Performance in 22nm Technology for Harsh Environments

The CP6004-RA/RC, a CompactPCI PICMG 2.16 compliant 6U CPU board, comes with various rugged levels, making it yet another addition to Kontron’s rugged PICMG 2.16 portfolio.
Based on the Intel® Core™ i7 third generation processor and the QM77 platform controller hub, the CP6004-RA/RC is featured by dual or quad core computing performance at a reasonable thermal design power, including a complete set of data, communication and multimedia interfaces.
The CP6004-RA version is designed for harsh application requirements in air-cooled environments, where the CP6004-RC is made for conduction cooled environments.
With the 2.1 GHz Intel® Core™ i7-3612QE and the LV 2.5 GHz Intel® Core™i7-3555LE, the CP6004-RA/RC has extraordinary performance per watt values. Up to 16 GByte of soldered DDR3 1600 MHz memory with ECC provide the foundation of demanding software applications.
Based on the Intel® Mobile QM77 I/O controller hub the CP6004-RA/RC provides high graphics performance for VGA and two independent digital video outputs to the rear I/O as well as HDA audio capabilities.
Besides the outstanding graphics performance, the CP6004-RA/RC offers comprehensive I/O capability with up to 5x 1Gb Ethernet, 4 x rear I/O SATA with RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality, a local SATA Flash disk connector, as well as 6x USB 2.0, 2 x COM.
It can also accommodate a conduction cooled PMC/XMC slot for I/O intensive applications.
The board provides safety and security via an optional trusted platform module, (TPM 1.2), two redundant firmware hubs (failover) and IPMI support according PICMG 2.9 R1.0.

Using Intel’s 4th generation core i3/i5/i7 processors based on 22nm process technology supporting up to four cores / eight threads at 2.4GHz and 6MB last level cache, the MIC-3396 blade boosts computing performance deploying the latest virtualization, techniques and CPU enhancements. Onboard soldered low voltage DRAM (1.35V) with ECC support and optional memory expansion via an SODIMM socket extend the memory to maximum of 16GB supporting the most demanding applications in high performance or virtualized environments. Dual channel design and memory speeds up to 1600MT/s along with increased cache size and cache algorithms guarantee maximum memory performance.
Combined with the powerful Intel® QM87 chipset, the 4th generation Core™ processors offer improved I/O performance by leveraging 5GT/s DMI and 3rd generation PCIe interfaces. An onboard XMC/PMC site with PCIe x8 gen.3 connectivity can host high speed offload or I/O mezzanines such as the MIC-3666 dual 10GE XMC card. With SATA-III support and up to 7Gbps I/O. the latest enhancements in storage technology such as high speed SSDs or traditional HDDs can be used on the MIC-3396. Five Gigabit Ethernet ports based on Intel’s latest GbE controllers for PICMG 2.16, front and rear connectivity ensure best in class network connectivity.
The processor’s integrated enhanced graphics engine (Iris) offers twice the performance over previous generations. With triple independent display support, the MIC-3396 is an ideal fit for demanding workstation applications.
RASUM features integrated in the CPU and chipset combined with PICMG 2.9, IPMI-based management make the MIC-3396 a highly available and reliable computing engine.
The RIO-3316 RTM module supports one PS/2 connector with both keyboard and mouse ports, one USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232 ports, two SATA ports, two DVI ports, and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. In case of the SATA disk drives and SATA RAID support of the QM87 do not meet performance and reliability requirements, the RIO-3315 SAS version supports a 4-port SAS controller with RAID and fail over support.

Advantech’s MIC-3397 series is a 6U CompactPCI single board computer with server class processor of Intel® Quad-Core Xeon® E3-1125C v2(40W) and low power dissipation processor of Intel® Dual-Core Pentium® B925C(15W) ,with DH8900 chipset supports DMI1.0 x 4 FSB. The processor using Intel® 22nm 64 bit process technology, up to 2.5GHz clock speed, 8MB L3 cache featured with Intel® Hyper-Threading, Virtualization, Trusted Execution Technology, enable the board meet the highest standards for the management and security of high-availability applications. MIC-3397, designed in single slot (4HP) and dual slots (8HP) form factor widths features. The 8HP version provides extensive & rich IO support, is featured with a high-performance discrete graphics, using AMD Radeon E6760 GPU, supports 1GB GDDR5 at PCIe x1, x2, x4, x8, and x16 lane widths, 2.5 GT/s and 5.0 GT/s link-data rates, up to four display outputs including one DVI-I, one DVI-D port and two DP 1.1or 1.2 port in a MXM 3.0 type A form factor.

MIC-3397 Series can be installed in a standard CompactPCI system slot as system master, or peripheral slot as stand-alone server blade without CompactPCI bus communication, it meets the harsh environment application, to make board attractive to multiple markets which is ideally suited for datacom, telecom and military applications, its outstanding graphics design will bring more opportunities for image-processing in medical, defense system and many other vertical segments applications.

The MIC-3398 is a Low-Power 6U CompactPCI® CPU blade with best in class price/performance ratio tailored for applications that require a state of the art processor platform based on Intel Architecture with full IO capability at an attractive cost point.

The MIC-3398 supports Intel® Atom™ E3845 and Celeron N2930, J1900 SoC (system on a chip) family previously codenamed Bay trail with a maximum of quad-core 2.00 GHz processing performance.

Intel’s latest Atom™ technology provides significant increases in performance and energy efficiency by using the latest 22nm Intel manufacturing process making it an ideal choice for control and workstation applications that require passive cooling with a power dissipation as low as 10W for the MIC-3398 board.

Up to 8GB, dual channel 1333 MHz DDR3L memory with ECC support provide a high performance and robust memory interface for demanding applications. With built-in graphics based on Intel’s® HD Graphics Technology this blade offers a significant improvement in graphics performance compared to previous generation platforms. Support for an onboard 2.5” SATA-II drive as well as CFast SSDs adds comprehensive mass storage support.

On the system side, the MIC-3398 supports 32-bit, 33MHz and 64-bit, 66MHz PCI bus interfaces to a CompactPCI backplane with support for Drone Mode operation.

A rich set of I/O interfaces such as DVI-D, USB3.0/2.0, Gigabit Ethernet and RS-232/422/485 ports round off the feature set. In addition to the single slot wide (4HP) board offering, a dual slot wide (8HP) version of the blade offers additional network connectivity by increasing Gigabit Ethernet port count from two to four.

Advantech’s MIC-3328 is a 3U CompactPCI PlusIO CPU blade based on the Intel® 3rd generation Core™ processor family. Based on latest 22nm process technology these processors support up to four cores / eight threads at up to 2.5GHz and up to 6M last level cache. With Intel HD Graphics(Gen7,DX11,OCL1.1) integrated into the CPU, the MIC-3328 can serve applications demanding high performance, high resolution video output on up to three independent display interfaces. Latest DDR3 DRAM up to 8GB running at 1600MT/s complement the powerful processor with high performance, ECC protected onboard memory.

MIC-3328’s design for reliability like using soldered processor, DRAM and flash storage for enhanced shock and vibration tolerance make it an ideal choice for workstation workloads in harsh environments and mission/business-critical applications such as military, transportation, test & measurement and traffic control. The enhanced fixed point and floating point performance offered by the intel CoreTM processor, improvements in the vector processing instruction set (AVX) along with the possibility to utilize the integrated GPU via standard interfaces such as OpenCL make the MIC-3328 also a great fit for signal processing applications such as radar, beam forming or image processing.

For best in class IO performance, MIC-3328 uses the Intel QM77 PCH, which provides extensive I/O support such as USB3.0, PCI Express gen.2 and SATA-III ports. Three i210 Gigabit Ethernet Controllers provide front panel as well as rear panel network connectivity. The i210 provides higher performance over previous Gigabit Ethernet controllers, better support for virtualization, Energy Efficient Ethernet and ECC protected packet buffers for enhanced reliability. Support for timestampping and synchronization is accomplished via IEEE1588 (PTP). Support for industrial Ethernet protocols such as ProfiNet, EtherCAT and Powerlink is available via third party software partners.
For dense applications the MIC-3328 is available with a 4HP front panel, occupying a single slot, only. For applications requiring additional IO and/or peripheral support, the MIC-3328 can be extended to 8HP (2 slots) via specific extension modules (XTMs). For industrial display or workstation applications, a graphics-centric XTM routes two Display Ports from the PCH for triple display support, adds 2 COM ports for data acquisition and control plus a PS/2 and 2.5″ SSD. A second XTM provides a XMC mezzanine slot for industry standard extension modules like Advantech’s MIC-3666 dual 10GE adapter card. The XMC slot supports a PCI Express x8 interface directly into the Intel CoreTM processor with speeds up to 64Gbps according to PCI Express 3.0.

While support for legacy CompactPCI is provided on J1 via an onboard PI7C9X110 bridge, the MIC-3328 supports an UHM J2 connector according to PCIMG2.30 (PlusIO). While this connector maintains backwards compatibility and interoperability with legacy systems, it makes state of the art serial interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, PCI express, USB and SATA available for use on a Rear transition Module (RTM) or on a hybrid backplane supporting legacy IO cards as well as CompactPCI Serial peripheral cards as defined in PICMG2.30. Thus, MIC-3328 provides a smooth, risk free and future proof migration path from legacy parallel PCI bussed CompactPCI system to latest serial interface standard predominant in the computer industry. With full backwards compatibility to CompactPCI, customers investments stay protected while the door is opened for platform enhancements and innovations via the new serial interfaces. The MIC-3328 PlusIO J2 supports interfaces such as 4 PCI Express x1 gen. 2 links for IO extension, one GbE for computer to computer multiprocessing, three SATA for Hard drives and RAID systems as well as 4 USB ports for wireless interfaces and legacy interface replacement.
